Photographer's Note
Best opened in a new tab.
2 last photos of River Red Gums beside the (still muddy) Darling River. This main one of 2 trees with the river behind them. The workshop photo gives a close up of the bark of a River Red Gum.
These are the last 2 photos that I took along the river on our recent trip. There should have been more as we'd planned to go right to the end of the river to where it joins with the Murray River but the town where we'd planned to stay (Mildura) is in Victoria. Unfortunately the NSW/Victoria border was and still is closed due to a large 2nd wave of COVID in Victoria.
My next set of photos will be from Mungo National Park, one of my favourites, and where we stayed at instead of Mildura on our way home.

Hi Ian
Well captured - I have always wondered what "The Old Gum Tree" looked like! Some great shadows created by them under that lovely blue sky. I like the WS version too so interesting to study the fascinating bark and all its scars! Thanks for showing, this is the sort of beauty we never seem to notice until it's pointed out. Excellent and tfs
Best regards

Nice part of the river and trees on the shore, well shown with nice colors, contrast and good text.
Beautiful nature and a moment with shade on the water.
I wish you a nice day, all the best in the new week that has begun.

Bonjour, cher Ian,
Les arbres présentent des écorces semblables à des blessures et cicatrices du climat difficile de la région.
Toutefois, le feuillage dispense de belles ombres sur la rivière boueuse.
J'aime les découvertes du voyage

Hello Ian,
What a difference occurs when water is involved in a photograph! The trees and the green plants give a sense of almost luxuriant cover, compared with the arid red soils previously shown.
It's a beautifully composed photograph with the huge eucalyptus tree creating a canopy over the river and creating the most interesting shadow patterns.
When I saw your your w/s, the bark reminded me of that of the plane tree.
I did a little research.
Where the plane tree absorbs air pollution, this tree creates natural antibiotics. It is a remarkable tree, surviving under a range of conditions for up to a thousand years. (I'm sure you knew this but I was fascinated to learn it!)
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Ian,
A very nice view looking less hopelessly dry than your recent pictures. The trees are impressive, but I actually like the WS even better. The close view of the strange patterns and colours of the tree are really nice.
Regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
The point of view is showing the details of the River Red Gum trees. It is clear and sharp. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
A good view across the very muddy river and a bright and sunny day. The branches of the tree look good against the blue sky and they also cast a nice play of shadows onto the ground and water.

Hello Ian, two lovely shots; if it had been me I would have posted the close up of the bark as the main post, it is a superb picture imo.
Here, we see some lovely shadows from the trees falling on the water, it gives a lovely effect.
The bright sunlight was well managed.
Excellent work.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian,some problems in your trip because Covid restrictions, but this view of the river is enough to understand. Now like a big puddle in these dry months. Very nice close up of tree in the WS too. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Ian,
beautiful natural scenery. These trees are quite photogenic indeed. The detail in your workshop shows one aspect but I think also tree branches are lovely.
Great natural colors. I would love to visit it someday!
