Photographer's Note
‘Kanchanaburi - Wat Thaworn Wararam’
This temple is the building you saw in my previous photo (the middle of the three on the other side of the river).
Very difficult to find some information about it.
One source on the internet stated that the Wat Thaworn Wararam is a Mahayana Buddhist temple considered as the first Vietnamese Buddhist temple in Kanchanaburi.
It would have been built in 1834 during the reign of King Rama III.
That ‘s what you can read on:
https://www.facebook.com/Thailandbyme/posts/wat-thaworn-wararamkanchanaburi-wat-thaworn-wararam-is-a-mahayana-buddhist-templ/1831169947169100/
Strange that a temple from 1834 was not mentioned in my travel guide.
In the WS other temples in the immediate vicinity.
All located in a park-like landscape near the river Kwai. No certainty whether they all belong together.

Hi Paul,
I guess there are lots of temples in that region, if such a masterpiece is not included in a travel guide. There's so many details on that brilliant structure. Excellent shot on sunny afternoon light and deep blue sky. I would like to get a close look of those details.

Dag Paul,
Mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Prettig weekend,
John.

Hello Paul,
I suppose we have to accept the limitations of the Internet. If no-one has bothered to record it, there will be no information.
This is a lovely, colourful photograph, taken when the sun is quite low in the sky, so the shadows are long and the colours are brightened. The surrounding trees make a very effective, natural border.
Your w/s add some further colourful records of the buildings. The one with the water reflections shows good use of the tree trunks to frame the scene.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Paul,

It looks as Thailand is all about temples, and each one is very different from another, Paul.
Also, they are all colorful, unique designed and good subject to take photos of.
A well lit picture, vivid and sharp.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Paul,
I like the three roofs and the exquisite decorations that to my Western eyes look far less kitschy than some you have shown before. The time of the day was ideal. The warm light really makes the best of the colours. The temple in WS #1 makes me think of an American drive-in church, Thai style, but the one in #2 is very nicely situated by the river. That's also a good composition with well used trees as frames.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Paul,
I'm so thankful that the effort you've given in each photos accompany with very useful notes. You've given me an idea what to look in Kanchanaburi when I'm happen to be there again.
I don't believed that you were walking sight-seeing along the banks of River Kwai in the heat as well as humid condition. You've done yourself proud with these amazing photos. A truly masterpiece in every details - colours and shapes.
This main photo is small version of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing I saw. Equally attractive but surprisingly this one looks even more Chinese considering it's in Thailand. My favourite is the WS2 - it's kind of small and peaceful. A Perfect place for meditation and the mellow sun-light shone to it.
:-) there are so many temples in Thailand. It's not strange to me that it was not mentioned in your travel guide. If the temple are solely for the Thais people. IMO.
Thanks for sharing this 'walking-trip' photos.

Hallo Paul,

Hi Paul,
beautiful temple indeed. I have recognized it from the previous photo the three dark blue roofs reminded me the famous Temple of Heavenly Peace (Tianningsi) in Beijing.
It is so nicely decorated and thanks to beautiful light the colors are very well emphasized. Wonderful weather day too.
You must be buying quite old guidebooks from before 1834?
Beautiful work,
M

Bonjour Paul

Hello Paul, the Temple is so colourful; so full of decoration, a totally different mindset to churches in the west.
Interesting that one has to climb a set of stairs to access the entrance.
I like workshop two with the reflections on the water, that could have been a main post too.
Here the shadows in the foreground naturally lead our eyes into the picture.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Paul I wrote quite a long ciritique of this photo but I don't know why it was not saved. It happens to me sometimes. Usually I check it, but this time I have forgotten it. One of many bugs on TE.
I made a virtual walk in Google map and also tried to find out more and I am not sure if this is indeed Wat Thaworn Wararam. Maybe the bigger temple or the whole complex. Not that it would be of any importance.
This temple looks like a copy of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Three tiers, the same blue tiles, also the stairs with something in the middle (usually the dragons) are typical for the Chinese temples. Fantastic composition. I saw in my walk that there is an extremely kitschy Buddha staute nearby.
Best regards Malgo

Bonjour, cher Paul,

Intrigerend...

Hi Paul,
Hi Paul,
Three beautiful pictures of these temples in Thailand, Kanchanaburi. The main photo was very beautiful in this evening light. Very good colors, sharpness and framing. The three photos are excellent. I'm almost asking you to post the second photo later as the main photo because it is lovely. A gorgeus and inspired photograph. Very well framed by the trees.
Congratulations

Hi Paul.
When I saw this image, it seemed more like china, once I read your note I understand its Buddhist style, its circular shape is curious, but it is very beautiful surrounded by large trees.
The photos of the WS are a good sample of the temples in the area.
The color and light management are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the image.
Very well done. I like it
Have a good day.
Warm Regards.
Luis.

Hello Paul,
This is a top-notch scene. The colors are great, and the temple has so many artistic details to enjoy. I also like the long shadows on the ground. With no people in the frame, the temple can have all the attention it deserves. :-) Take care!
