Photographer's Note
‘Luang Prabang - What does a tuk-tuk driver do in between two trips?’
He unfolds the hammock that was already in the back of the tuk-tuk and takes a breather.
In this particular case here, the driver takes his smartphone and goes online just like everyone else in the west does.
This was the first time on my journey that I saw a hammock in the back of a tuk tuk (and someone lying in it).
Afterwards I saw it very often. When there are passengers, the hammocks are folded above the heads and aren’t easily visible.
And frankly, there were many more hammocks in Cambodia than in Laos.
A hammock seemed a basic necessity there … and you don't need two trees for it.

Hi Paul,
I wonder whether you could rent one of those? This would be an economical way to travel over there. You always consider to minimize the costs and seek to interact with the local people as well... You could sleep in the hammock at night and drive around during the day!
Very visually attractive capture with plenty of color. The owner has been very creative in the combination of the colors. It is easy to notice!
The structure behind somehow contrasts having more traditional style and design but has equally bright colors.
Very well done,
M

Hello Paul,
I have seen many bicycle rickshaw "drivers" sleeping in their passenger's seats, but they never looked as comfortable as this man. It's amusing to see him asleep, or resting, between the trips, but what makes this more than a funny photo is the brightness of his tuk-tuk and the pretty temple, or maybe it's just a pavilion of some kind, in the background. The photo seems to be a very good symbol of life and culture in Laos.
Best regards,
Gert

A colors combination that works superbly on the scene, paul.
Wondefully combined the two subjects, mingling with the surrounding in harmony.
Cheers for this one, a beautiful outcome.
Good afternoon,

Hi Paul,
I like the dappled sunlight in the fg. Good sharpness and the tuk tuk reminded me of Bangkok. Unusual to see someone reclining inside on a hammock! Tfs!

Bonjour Paul,

Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Oost-Vlaanderen,

Hello Paul,
Just look at those colours!
Who could't feel cheerful, surrounded by such vibrant colours.
These guys are well adapted to their trade, taking advantage of rest times so that they will have lots of energy when time to work!
The tuk-tuk is just awash with primary colours. whilst the temple is more sedate, more serene, the reds and gold suggesting royal influences.
Good sharp photographs and interesting records of your experiences.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Paul,
Quite cools shot of the driver on a break. It's interesting to see so colourful, and heavily modified tuk-tuk. And that background building is truly beautiful.

Hello Paul, a very colourful and interesting set of pictures.
You can’t blame the man setting up his hammock like this, it must be quite hard work being in charge of a tuk-tuk.
An excellent point of view with the pavilion a lovely background.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hallo Paul,

Hi Paul
Something I missed in both Laos and Cambodia - built in hammocks despite using tuk-tuks in both countries. A great capture of the driver reclining.
cheers

Salut Paul,
Voilà des couleurs vives et bien présentées, bonne capture. Parfaite netteté également, intéressante composition qui met en valeur cet original tuk tuk avec hamac et aussi en arrière-plan cet édifice. Une photo très dépaysante, pour nous européens.

Hello Paul, In India and in Thailand I used tuk-tuks extensively. But they were smaller - for four persons. And sometimes in the busy street among the other cars, I didn't feel safe. This one is colourful and comfortable. I used similar ones in Laos and I also saw them in Iran. Good place for some relax when there are no customers. Lovely small temple. Charming and amusing composition.
Best regards Malgo

Hello Paul,
Nice observation. I just seen Gert's recent photo and seems like that painting these tuk-tuks to such vivid colours is a thing at that area. :)

Hello Paul!
I remember views like this. The last time in Chiang Mai, visiting Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.this vehicle looks new, or fresh painted. Colors are fantastic and I like the composition with that shrine as background.

a funny flagrant. I never had seen.. a nice combination of the colorful kiosk and the tuk-tuk. here hammocks are more usual in the hotter areas, coldest regions don't use it usually.
take care

Hello Paul.
A magnificent and very cheerful composition with this colorful color, both in the Tuk tuk and in the small temple, so varied in color and with that precious multi-level roof.
Great job with good clarity and details.
Good morning, very cordial greetings.

Hello Paul,
This driver also stopped in front of an interesting and attractive structure. Once again there are lot of colors on the tuk-tuk, and the driver looks very comfortable resting inside. I almost never see hammocks around here. Actually, I think I've only seen them in store ads, but never in person!

Dag Paul,
Groet Rob
