Photographer's Note
Can anyone guess where in Manhattan this Art Deco skyscraper built in 1935 might be located? Here are some hints: it is part of a complex of buildings, and across the street from an ice skating rink.
Yes, this is part of Rockefeller Center. :-) While the centerpiece of the complex, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, is more iconic, this skyscraper, known as the International Building is also well-known. It is directly across the street to the north of the plaza, where the ice skating rink and the gold statue of Prometheus are located. This building has its own iconic work of art in front of it as well, a bronze statue of Atlas holding up the world.
I was walking through Rockefeller Center last week and took some quick photos. I became fascinated by all the windows, and how striking the building look when cropped.
In the WS is the ice skating rink. You can see a glimpse of the International Building behind it.

Hello Brenda,
Fantastic close-up photo of Rockefeller Center in a nice and bright sunlight, whose reflection makes a nice detail at left as well. The pattern of window and blue squares in between them is beautiful in between the long lines of warmly coloured walls.

Dear Brenda,
We are neighbours today. This photo let me perceive how enormous is this building. Of course its monotone nature is also clear.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Ciao Brenda,it looks like an old russian hotel in this close up, it was a nice idea to form this geometric perspective broken only by the reflection of the sun in the lower left, great capture with excellent details, a little sad the almost deserted skating rink in the WS . Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hi Elaine
A good photo of a striking building although it would have been a good idea to crop out that blast of bright light on the left.

Hello Brenda,
Of course, it is Rockefeller Centre. I like this original view so cut to show only windows. I tried to count them but it was a difficult task. I saw the famous Skate Rink with the golden Prometheus. And I was also on the top. Those were the days...
In the meantime, 1,300,000 Ukrainians came to Poland looking for safety, most of them mothers with children.

Hello Brenda,
Cropping is a wonderful tool. In the hands of someone with good eyes and a talent for compositions it can do wonders. Even though there are hundreds of windows seen here, this is such a basically simple photo that it could have fitted my minimalism theme perfectly.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Brenda
I've never been to NYC but even I guessed, as soon as you mentioned the ice skating rink. :-)
Superb image that indeed looks like an abstract painting. Well spotted, it takes some skill to notice photo opportunities like this and even more to actually reflect them in a photograph.
Best wishes
Kasia

The returning pattern of the windows made this picture attractive, Brenda.
Excellent sharp details of each window, well collected that moment when the sun glittering on the side.
Have a nice new day,

Great composition, very 'egalitarian', then there's the sun and that bit of black in the corner below bringing just a bit of difference. I like the overall effect of this shot, Brenda. Very graphical, well spotted!

Hello Brenda, by cropping the building in the way that you have, you have created a lovely abstract work of art; so eye catching.
The darker panels are random and add to the overall effect. Great shot.
I like the addition of the shot of the ice rink too.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Brenda
The building offers an impressive visual of architectural abstract - a bit more emphasis on the geometry, bands of contrasting colours split and the vertical format makes for an interesting image. Excellent lens work

Hello Brenda,
Although I passed there several times, I admit I did not immediately recognize the building in your photo.
However, the photo in your WS is well known, although I was not there during the skating season.
Your main photo is well composed and has a graphical beauty.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Brenda,
Your guess is as good as mine ...
What I see , a lot of 'window of opportunity' , New York has to offer :-)
This is a brilliant shot. All the lines match perfectly with all lines ... in sync with each other like a strong 'bonding'.
It would be so nice , if one of the window is my office. I'll be on top of the world.
During my break, I can do skating under the watchful spectators. How fun.
Thanks for sharing this 'Sky-windows' shot.

Hi Brenda
I knew this was the Rockefeller building almost right away.
and you know i'm going to like this one as its right up my alley. Fun views, fun to photograph too. love how it takes up basically 100% of the frame, no dead spaces at all. So do you think Trump will run in 2024? The way things are going, it looks like a slam dunk that the Republicans will win. So many things have gone wrong for the Dems, but really, talk about being delt a bad hand...War, Covid, Economy tanking because of Covid & the War - which will always be blamed on the present party in power, inflation soaring...its not looking good.
cheers
