Pools of Radiance, a photo from Cornwall, England

Photographer's Note

This shot favoured a landscape composition to capture each pool as they lead the viewer towards the sea stacks and ultimately the sunset at the back of the shot. I set up my composition to capture some reflection of light in the pool, to help isolate it from the surrounding sand.

Canon 20D, 10-22mm, Tripod

Tout simplement superbe !! Des couleurs douces d'une fin de journée au bord de la mer avec un relief en ombre chinoise et cette plage au sable sculté par les marées.... c'est que du bonheur ;o)

I like the touch of green colour on this rock which works well to give a contrast with the pink/purples of the sky.Your positioning is also excellent I must say.

Very pleasant photo and place. Are colors always like that or have you used filters, WS... ? It's very impressive, there are no colors like that in the area I live, it must be fantastic to see it.

Hello Adam,

I completely Fan about this kind of work and style, i saw the wonderful picture of Timecatcher.
I d like to learn to do this kind of job ? i thought the wonderful colors was due to the velvia 50 and film camera, but i can see that you obtain some great one with your 20d, are you using some filters, would you mind to explain me the technic to obtain this kind of picture ( maybe you use some graduated filter )?

Lovely colours and tones of this sunset somewhere in Cornwall. Good compo, contrast and just enough reflection in remaining water for a complete viewing pleasure!
What filter(s) did you use for this one?

another stunning photograph adam, you could sell prints of your photos cause they are gems! the pastel colors and lighting, and that little hint of bright green look fantastic. looks like a poster you'd see under a black light. wow

Hello Adam,

You are simply one of the greatest photographers on this website.

The gradual changes of hue and light gradient very much set the mood of tranquillity. I agree with your tactics; describing the pools as stepping stones towards the ocean. The towering sea-stack adds to the vertical composition of the image and helps to break up the horizon. The black frame helps to ‘set-off’ the colours, boosting their visual impact by contrast. As always with your photography, the colour combinations, clarity and perspective is always of premium quality.
