Photographer's Note
Here is the big version
Like I promised you... I wanted to go back on the top of the tower to take another photo under better weather circumstances. So that is what I did yesterday. This version is quite different. The colours are brighter and better - although this one doesn't have a silver glow like the first version.
I took this photo with view on Århus (the second biggest city of Denmark) when I was on the 60 m high tower of the high townhall.
On the left, you see the cathedral (with the light green roof), which is from aroud 1200. In the background, you see the harbour area by the sea. By the end of the sea you also can see land, (Århus i situated in a bay) that is the coastline of the peninsula Djurland and the island of Samsø. The the very right is the only catholic church of Århus.
Between those two churches there is the longest shopping street of Århus, Søndergade (but also just called Strøget like in Copenhagen). I actually starts even more to the right by the central station, but that is not visible here on this photo.
The yellow building to the left is "Salling", a quite expensive department store.
Almost in front of the three chimnies (right/middle), is the bus station (you maybe can recognize blue busses)
About the photo: with autostitch, a handy and free program, I made this panorama of 18 photo's. I cropped the photo, increased the contrast, light, and I sharpened it the photo a bit.
Hmm, today there are some clouds and the light is a bit softer... maybe I should go back a 3rd time as well:)
-----------------------------------------------------
This is my way to say goodbye to the city... in a few weeks, I will move back to Haarlem, the Netherlands.

Bonjour Stef,

Hi Stef
A superb, wide angled, panorama, with excellent sharpness, lighting, colour & saturation. I like the curve of the roof tops. Well done!

John.

Hi Stef. Well I'm very glad you went back up there. The clarity makes a huge difference in the quality of the shot. But, just playing devil's advocate, I looked back and forth between the two and I think the original had better contrast and saturation. I think you post-processed that one more to make up for the crappy weather. Both have their good points, but this shot is that much better. Congrats Stef!

Hej Stef,
The autostitch pro did it again ;-))
The view is very clear and sunny and the stitching is outstanding. But I prefer this small one to the large version, this large one looks blurry on my screen and I also noted you could have compressed it less, 229 KB where you can go up to 400 KB.
But I like the view !
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Stef.
Effectively, the composition is totally different with good weather conditions ! The pictures has a better depths and the colors are of course brighter, but the ambiance is less interesting than in the "bad weather shot". The panorama is still very interesting and allows to discover another aspect of the city. Thanks for sharing !

Hi Stef, A nice shot with layers of view. Good color contrast and nice clarity. For some reason the enlarged version does not shown as nice as the smaller version. The clarity and sharpness has compromised there.
A nice color contrast and a good depth.

Hmmm. Maybe it's time to get the old butt back up the town hall tower sometime again ;-))
Nice seeing a motif from my home town. Safe journey home ;-)

Deze miste ik nog ;-) en ik kan nu op zich wel even een blauwe lucht gebruiken, want inmiddels regent en onweert het hier... :-(
Opnieuw een prachtig panorama van Aarhus! :-D
