Photographer's Note

For the last few weeks the west coast has alot of rain. Yesterday the clouds broke in the afternoon. Knowing the sun would set in an hour I set out to see what kind of lighting I would see at Peg Leg along the Fraser River. At this field I became awestruck by this evening light. I was thrilled to say the least. This is the kind of lighting I aspire to capture. Its like a dream come true for photographers who love dynamic light. Only 20 minutes later it all faded to darkness! But not without me capturing this first. Photography in its purest sense is capturing light and how its reflected on the land where we live. Enjoy the scene!

What a fabulous shot! So dramatic how the sunlit mountain stands out from the dark sky and the long beautiful streaks of light and shadow stretch out on the grass below. Beautiful color and contrasts. Talk about the right place at the right time.. what luck!

Wow Paul! This is a gorgeous shot, with the sun hitting that mountain like a spotlight. While you were taking this I was running out of work early to take some photos of my own in the only clear weather we've had for 2 weeks. I really like the way the sunlit mountain is sandwiched between the dark fields and the dark sky. Very dramatic, and beautiful.

Excellent lighting on this one man.
the light looks almost heavenly ..and the clouds look as if they are going to engulf the mountain.

Magnificent light, Paul - no doubt about it. And the contrasting shadows add a great deal to the shot too. So glad you made the effort to head out to Peg Leg (great name!). Congratulations on this shot - it's awesome.

Hi Paul. Indeed what a light. It's also nice how the clouds are touching the upper area of the mountain. The frame you came up with matches perfectly with everything else. The only thing I would change is the spelling of "C hilliwack" in your place name! ;)

Hello Paul,

I agree with you about the beautiful colours before sunset. I think one can make the most beautiful pictures just before sunset... and in the very early morning. In august I took this one and I'm still amazed by its colours.

absolument superbe, un wallpaper de luxe, j'adore ces couleurs parfaites, des contrastes saisissants et des jeux de lumières et d'ombres merveilleux.
En plus, le cadrage et le POV sont excellents.
Un peu de bruit dans le ciel, mais c'est pas vraiment grave.
