Photographer's Note
Leh, Leh-Ladakh - altitude 3500 m
When going to supper in the restaurant near the hotel at Main Bazar in Leh, Ladakh, the mountain had been shining in the evening sun, with the strange-shape cloud near the top of the mountain.
Though I was waiting the light show of the Leh Palace on upper left, it was canceled tonight due to the power failure.
I synthesized the image at this time, using two pieces of the mountain at evening 19:08 and the town at night 20:00.
Shutter speed: 1/400 sec (mountain), 0.5 sec (town)
Aperture: 8.0 (mountain), 5.6 (town)

This is a really interesting shot for me Hisashi, both because I visited Leh last year and also for the approach you took with this photograph.
I think it's success is mainly down to the timing - the fact that you managed to capture night and day in the same frame gives this a lot of impact, and I can't remember seeing that kind of thing done so well for quite some time.
Night time on the busy streets, with the last of the daylight on the distant hilltop - stunning.
You certainly made the most of this interesting scene - good composition and most of all very good handling of the exposure with detail everywhere from the deepest shadows to the brightest highlights.
Excellentg work Hisashi.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Hisashi,
I've never seem that before...combination of 2 pictures at different time, excellent job because the final picture seems natural even if we understand it's an impossible exposure to realize,
thanks for the lesson,
have a nice week end,

Incredible picture! When I read the title I got immediately curious to see that, and it's really impressive! At the same time you've made an excelent night shot, the color of the sky is great! Good job!

Hello Hisashi. I just found this remarkable shot in your gallery. It's amazing that you have full daylight in the top right corner, but night time in the rest of the photo. The effect is quite strange, but the exposure is excellent, and so is your combination work. I like the sight of all that activity in the main street. Great work.

Andrew

Hello Hisashi
I was foxed at first. Excellent juxtaposition of the two shots which gives the superb impression because of the partly lit up peak. Great exposure control in the FG for the artificial lights. I like the idea & love the result!

This is a great shot from yourself, superb contrasts from dark to light while the colours are spot on. Excellent scene, so much going on but its not a nuisance in this shot.
