Photographer's Note
The Columbine is the state flower of Colorado. It should feel good about itself because with the number of different wildflowers throughout the states high alpine basins, it really stands out. I took a trip to the San Juan mountain range outside of Ouray, Colorado a couple of weeks ago and I was fortunate enough to be there during peak wildflower season. Literrally, entire mountain sides were bright with color. On this day, I was climbing Mount Sneffels, a "14er" outside Ouray. The approach to the mountain is through Yankee Boy Basin, in which the wildflowers were truly stunning.
