There is an annual Wartime Weekend on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which runs between Pickering and Grosmont, with stations Goathland and Levisham in between. It is in memory of all the men and women who lost their lives helpling to keep the railways of Britain running during WWII. The emphasis is on the Home Front in 1943. From Friday to Sunday of one weekend in October people dress in the clothes of the day for a variety of activities.
