It was october of 2007, we decided to trek in the route of Sandakphu, Phalut and Gorkhey. We choose a bit unconventional starting and ending points. Those are Dhotrey(different kinds of birds can be seen here) and Ribdhi respectively. Sandakphu is the highest point of West Bengal. In this route we had to trek through the dense forest of the sanctuary names 'Singalila National Park'. It was a nice experience to in through the dense greenery with different sounds of birds and insects. In many parts of this route, where no sunlight can reach ever, so those places have a wet atmospher. From Tonglu, Sandakphu and Phalut you can see a vast panoramic view of snow covered peaks of Himalayas. You can see mount Kanchenzunga { the third highest peak in world }, mount Pandim, mount Kumbhakarna etc. with the giant Mount Everest.
We have a very small team of only two members. My partner is one of my students cum brother Sukanta. We started our trek at 23rd of Oct from Dhotrey. Our first days destination was Tonglu [10000 ft], second night stay at Kalapokhri [11450 ft], third in Sandakphu [12000 ft], fourth in Phalut [11880 ft] and finally we reached Gorkhey { a beautiful valley } and then ended our trek at Ribdhi of Sikkim. We enjoyed it very much. Hope you'll also enjoy this trip.
