Photographer's Note
Please read this note very carefully to the end.
First, the meaning of the word Chikulin is needed to be explained. Chiku= Take= bamboo, Linn= Hayashi= a grove, thus the meaning of the word in English simply means a bamboo grove. Chikulin is often found as a part of many Japanese gardens. One could even say that it is one of essential parts of the garden.
Although it is now very common to see this material replaced by plastic, sadly. People here still make all sorts of household items and farming tools, many of the tea ceremonial tools, and they use it also as a fine building material. They are all made from this very common material.
Its flexibility also takes a part in our daily life as a symbol of resilience in Japanese language. Its straight appearance often used to represent honesty in one’s personality. And the ridges on a bamboo are used to describe a point in one’s life a turning point “Fushime”, Fushi=knot, or gnarl, Me=a point. Indeed bamboo is very much a part of daily life here in this small island.
Bamboo shoot can also be eaten, and it makes a fine seasonal diet in the spring.
Lastly, and the most importantly,
I personally like to see the grove, but I also like to listen to the grove as it makes a very soothing music together with the wind. It is good to sit down sometimes and try to look at my own thoughts. I invite you to do the same.

Good night, Nobu,
I see you are big fan of a film's photography. My compliments! I remember my old NIKON EM, but a processor was broken and I bought my first digital Canon.
An interesting view of the blue bamboo. Fine note.
Best regards,

Hello Nobu,
a really nice shot from the bamboo grave,i believe all these to are natural.I say this because i didn't know that the colour of bamboo trunks are bluish. The same problem we have in Greece were there are reeds that are grown in sandy places and in sloughs. But more of them are knackered out because of the civilization.

What a feast of primary colors! and thank you for the video of the bamboo sounds as well. The visual harmony of the leaning trunks is very restful and you are right, I will take some time to be still and forget about the "musts." :-)

Ciao dear Nobu,
thanks for the link, it was really pleasant to listen to the music of nature in a forest of bamboo. Bamboo is the symbol of the character of the strong people, that bend but never break. So is also the bamboo. Nice picture with vivid colors that nicely contrast together, accompanied by interesting notes, as always happens in your photographic work. Compliments!
Ciao, have a beautiful week!

Dear Nobu,
Well chosen POV and very nice colorful image..But one thing, now its high time to buy a Full frame SLR.
Nice work done with light management too.but some of the parts in the images are bit over-burn. Take care of those regions.
But total compo is superb.
Have a wonderful week ahead... Arijit.

Hello dear Nobu-san!
The music of nature...the music of bamboos! Yes, I've heard it as well (first hand) here in our country. We have bamboo 'groves' in semi-rural to rural places & in the night with howling wind, the 'music' takes a different dimension!
This is a very aesthetic picture...not only for the colours, but the way you presented it...the bamboo plants painted blue have been effectively framed by the wall & the red roof. There is a fine harmony in this picture, which goes along with the note & the link!
Best regards Nobu-san & have a good week ahead!

Hello Nobu,
The note is as fascinating, befitting the eye catching bamboo grove. I see that you are shooting with the fabulous analogue camera the Leica M6, and have not adopted the digital cameras yet. The scan of the negative image, however, is first rate and indiscernible from a good digital camera.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Nobu,
First of all, thank you very much for this important and informative text. It is very essential and useful to understand the photographer's intention of taking that particular shot.
Bamboos are widely used in India from household things to musical instruments. Here, the grove is captured very beautifully with eye catching colors. The sharpness and light management are very good. Thanks for sharing this lovely image.
It is a bit chilly here in New York City.
