This scene is repeated everyday in cities around the world. A small, local cafe, strangers quietly reading the morning paper, sipping tea or coffee in silence. This image was taken at 5:30am in Tokyo. Originally captured in digital color, converted to B/W in post production.

I copied the layer, upped the contrast, lowered the brightness on the new layer and then erased the right and bottom portion of the new layer to bring the man in the shop more into the foreground.
